Impetigo is a superficial skin infection most common among children of age two to six years. It is caused by staphylococcus – “staph” and streptococcus – “strep” bacteria.
Symptoms of Impetigo

Non-bullous impetigo

Bullous impetigo
- Caused by staph bacteria that produce a toxin that breaks between the top layer (epidermis) and the lower levels of skin forming a blister.
- Blisters can appear in many skin areas, mainly the buttocks.

- Good hygiene practices can help prevent impetigo from spreading.
- Use soap and water to clean the skin and take baths regularly.
- Cover the impetigo sores with gauze and tape.
