  3. Hives – Hives are a result of dilation of capillaries which let fluid to leak out in the nearby tissue, that is the epidermis. It is also one of the skin rashes that itch because it causes swelling.
  4. Pityriasis Rosea – Very itchy skin rash, starts as a single oval lesion, mostly targeting the trunk.
  5. Poison Ivy aka Rhus Dermatitis – Poison ivy is caused by exposure to urushiol, a resin found in a specific type of plant. The skin rash is red with blisters and can have a circular or linear pattern. Poison ivy is common on legs and on hands.
  6. Psoriasis – Psoriasis is a chronic dermatological disorder. It typically leads to timely flaring up of red patches covered with silvery and flaky scales on the outer side of the skin and the scalp.
  7. Ringworm- This itchy skin rash caused by a fungal or in medical terms, dermatophyte infection.
  8. Rosacea – One of the skin rashes that itch, on face is rosacea. Found on the face in the form of tiny, itching red bumps .
  9. Scabies – Scabies rash is bumpy, itchy and commonly occurs between fingers, in armpits, on the wrist and around the waist, especially in children

There are some more skin rashes that itch like athlete’s foot, heat rash, swimmer’s itch, granuloma annulare, etc.

  1. The nerve receptors below the skin are very sensitive and send those signals to the brain.
  2. Skin itches to trigger a physical response.
  3. The longer you try to ignore the itch, the more it will itch.
  4. Skin is the largest organ on the body and acts as a barrier, protecting the internal organs from foreign materials, irritants and poisons in the environment.
